Who we are
Experts in tumour classification and AI
We are Heidelberg Epignostix, a team of experts in tumour classification and artificial intelligence. We develop medical device software that classifies cancer from its epigenome and, increasingly, using AI models for histopathology.
Founded in Heidelberg in 2022, the company is built on the research of its founders: the group behind the first methylation-based classification of central nervous system tumours.

Our team comprises leading physicians, scientists, bioinformaticians and AI experts, with a comprehensive understanding of cancer biology, genetics, epigenetics and machine learning.
Through close collaboration with clinical partners we have direct insight into what clinicians and researchers need in order to characterise tumours accurately and act on the result.

Our mission
We combine leading scientific and medical expertise with innovative technology to improve diagnostic accuracy and enhance clinical care for cancer patients. We develop medical device software that meets all applicable regulatory requirements and customer needs, enabling pathologists to deliver precise and reliable cancer diagnoses.
We work across two data modalities. DNA methylation gives us a molecular fingerprint of the tumour; histology, read by AI models trained to predict methylation class, extends that reach to the material every pathology laboratory already has.
